The University of Manchester takes a whole-institute approach to sustainability, embedding sustainability activities across the institute via it's '50,000 actions' program. This program and associated online portal facilitates all students and employees to take a range of actions towards individual, community or campus sustainability, in support of it's goal to be zero-carbon by 2038, supported by a 'Net-Zero research community'. The university is a thought leader in applying circular economy principles to campus management; they have developed and use circular economy benchmarking tools in campus renewal efforts.
