As one of the few technical universities in the Netherlands, TU Delft is using their engineering and innovation capacity to transition towards carbon neutrality, climate adaption and circularity. Their focus on becoming a green and circular campus is translated into a variety of practical focus areas, such as energy usage - with an aim to produce half of their energy use on campus before 2030, heat systems, the built environment and mobility. TU Delft has been a thought leader in developing the campus as a living lab approach, by analysing and monitoring campus transformational processes. This has resulted in a widely-used manual for campus transformation and integration of living labs. On the Delft campus, a 'Green Village' test site serves as a living lab for researchers, industry and government stakeholders, where innovative energy systems and retrofitting techniques are tested.
