The University of Gothenburg aims to embody the concept of a Regenerative University. Their university-wide sustainability strategy involves a collaborative network between faculty, administration, management, and other stakeholders. In terms of circular campus approaches, their Environmental Management System approaches climate action with a systematic approach, in implementation and assessment. Their system includes a tool to measure real-time, in-place carbon-dioxide emissions, and is certified under the ISO 14001 standards. The management system also functions as a living lab for students in energy management and sustainability education. Sustainability has been embedded in education since 2006, when Gothenburg implemented a system of sustainability labelling; labelling courses and programmes as either sustainability-focused or sustainability-related. They also offer an international, interdisciplinary 5-week summer school for sustainability, part of which focuses on imagining justice from an interdisciplinary perspective.
